ImageThe Reason For Kittens Being Born Blind. One Possible Hypothesis Into This Enigma.

As a mother cat becomes pregnant with kittens and they are developing inside her womb everything develops properly, except their retina as shown in the above picture of the cat's eye anatomy. Their retina is completely undeveloped a part of the eye responsible for eyesight.

It takes 3-6 weeks of their lives since birth to develop their retinas. When retinas fully develop kittens gain black and white eyesight, but never colored.

In any unfortunate case if their retinas do not become fully developed within 3-6 weeks then they remain blind for life.

This is my hypothesis into an enigma of kittens being born blind. Maybe pet scientists have other theories out there? Who knows?

Sincerely, yours

Mikhail Leonidovich Fayn
